The Chameleon #002

You made it back.  Or maybe this is your first time here. Either way, hey.

My boyfriends sister is out of town for the week and he's been assigned to care for a beautiful doggo named Cheddar.  Seeing as my partner physically goes into work, I decided to borrow Cheddar for the day so that he wouldn't be alone.

While I typically have set paths I take, I let Cheddar be the lead and we explored new territory.  That's when I saw it.

A small brown lizard sitting on a rail briefly before hopping away to its next destination.

You could call it apophenia but I'm calling it a symbol of confirmation.

I pray that you are also able to discern the messages from your higher power in life.  I used to expect a large booming voice to call down to me and command left or right.  But now I see she speaks to me in tarot cards, scriptures, purple cars, and lizards on railings.

Who'd a thunk.

A vibe for the week

A Black Hole is Everything a Star Longs to Be

That is the title of Kara Walker's latest exhibition.  Moving right?  I saw it on Instagram and could not let it go.

I struggle to articulate the impact this title alone but here are points that may help you reach your own conclusion.

  • Many people want to be a star.  But then what?

  • "Stellar black holes are made when the center of a very big star falls in upon itself, or collapses. When this happens, it causes a supernova. A supernova is an exploding star that blasts part of the star into space." -NASA

  • Stars will die but black holes are just about forever

Let's reflect-

Below is a collection of Kara Walker's work organized into a digital flip book. (Coincidentally the same type I use for Womanifesto)

Pick a number 1-158 and reflect on or write about what you find.  What emotions does it make you feel?  What does it remind you of?  Is this art? Would you pay for this piece? What do you think the artist was trying to portray?

Think about it.

And if you'd like a sounding board, feel free to email me.  I'd love to hear your thoughts.
